You awaken in a dark lagoon; the last thing you remember is a terrible storm and your ship being struck by lightning. How you got here is a mystery, and then you see her; a woman but not, her body covered by opalescent fish-like scales. Fin-like protrusions sit on the side of her face and body. She is not like any mermaid you had heard stories of. Long, dark wet hair drapes around her body. You try to sit up a bit to get a better look, and as you brace your hand, a small rock underneath scrapes along the ground you are laying on. The sound cuts through the quiet, and she swiftly turns your way, mouth open revealing sharp needle-like teeth as a horrifying cry erupts from her that shatters the silence.
